There are different notches in place. I'm trying to find a link to some pics to show what's what.

Do you know what motherboard/CPU combo you have?

I found out that i have an AGP version 2.0. i found this while i changing my video settings. My slot can run 1X up to 4X.

    umm...i have two questions:

1.could you show me a picture of what a 2.0 slot looks like just so i can make sure?

2.i plan on getting a Vision Tek 9600. the thing is the specs say "Pentium® 4/III/II/Celeron,™ AMD® k6/Athlon® or compatible with AGP 2X or AGP 2X/4X/8X universal slot". will the card still run at 4x even if i don't have a 2x/4x/8x universal slot?

As long as your AGP slot is revision 2.0 or higher, it will work fine. Just set the AGP rate to 4x and you'll be alright.
