Is it possible to make firefox stop asking me about restoring an old session? If I shut down with firefox windows open, then next time I turn on the comp and launch firefox it always says that it "closed unexpectedly" or something and asks if i want to restore session or start a new one. Is it possible for me to make it so that it always just starts a new one? I dont want to have to think about it and have to click on the button every time. Thanks.
This should do it... create a new tab window and enter "about:config" in the address bar and hit enter. Right click anywhere on the page which is loaded and select 'new' and then 'boolean', set the preference name to be ' browser.sessionstore.enabled ' and the value to false. this will disable the session manager, so every time firefox starts it will go straight to your homepage/s. Hope this helps!
Theres a bit of info available. Session restore is actually quite useful, if you don't want it then make sure to close all windows manually before you hit shutdown. the whole point of session restore is that if you accidentally shut down or your PC crashes, it can reload them next time.
Yeah I know it would be useful in such a situation but when will that happen? I can't remember being in such a situation where I lost something important that I was doing in a browser due to a crash. And I doubt it will happen to me anytime soon. It's not like my computer crashes regularly while I'm writing emails or something heh. Besides, I prefer to just hit shut down without bothering to close the window(s) of FF i have open. I often have at least a couple FF windows open because more often than not I open new FF windows rather than new tabs. So, closing all the windows before shutdown or hitting "start new session" the next time seems much too bothersome in the long run to keep doing just in case I might some day need to salvage a lost browsing session.
