Ok, I have a All-in one network box (Linksys WAG54G) and recently i've been having some problems using azureus. I Have enabled Upnp on my router, and azureus has set up port forwarding correctly (aka correct ports to correct network IP) The problem is, im having some REAL difficulty downloading what seems to be a healthy torrent, 90% of the time im getting NO transfer (up or down, and even when i do get transfer its normally next to nothing) and ive seen this particular torrent with 20 seeds and 30ish peers (while i was gettign nothing). I was poking around inside the web-conf for my router to see if anythign was amis and i noticed PAGES and PAGES of entry's under the Firewall and Access Log (2 seperate logs, but the entries seem to be similar/same)... most of the entry's are related to my computer IP and the ports Azureus is setup to use... are theese logs a record of whats happening, or whats been blocked? (it doesnt seem to mention anywhere what they relate to, other than system, firewall, access etc). Firewall protection is turned OFF, and so is 'Block Anonymous Internet Requests ' (helps stealth ports, does not reply to pings).
I really can't stress enough to turn of UPnP and enable all of the Firewall protection available. For port forwarding, you should assign the router high numbered, un-commonly used ports between 30,000 and 65,000.
Thanks for the quick reply, I only enable Upnp and disabled thoose protections to see if they had any effect on azureus. Upnp other than a security risk (as RATs could quiet happaily use it to make there server publically accessable) is a nuicense when you have a windows machine in the house, as the port forwarding list fills up with entrys for msn messenger :/ I like high port ranges, i normally work down from 65535 it intervals of a few hundred or thousand ports, allthough the ports you choose to run servers on is not really a high risk unless there are explots available for the server. Thanks for the suggestion, and yes i will be going back to the normal security state once i have resolved this. Any suggestions on what the problem might be or where it could be? thanks
