I need help with flashing or upgrading my BIOS simply becuase i'v read that by doing so i can get some of my hardware to work properly. BOTH my dvd drives display as cd-rom drives which by the way can't read any disks and presumably my motherboard could be the problem and therefore thats the reason why i need to flash my BIOS.
i think they've had too many illegal cd's up to today if this is true that why they are not reading if they are new maybe from the devices own firmware causing the problem if you are trusting the electric supplies of africa say your mobo brand, model and the bios type (ami, award) then i can help by the way i was concerning the damage if any electric shocks or cut outs damages making the system unusuable unless changing mobo take your own risk
be very careful flashing your BIOS, as a simple power failure could render you motherboard dead, basically only EVER consider updating the BIOS only if you know it will fix any problems your having after you have proved 100% that you need to update your BIOS, the first thing you need to do is visit your motherboard manufacturers website & and download a BIOS file (usually a .bin file), now you'll need to check your BIOS, as some BIOS's can update themselves, and load a BIOS file from floppy, look here
I would recommend you don't flash your BIOS in this instance. It will not solve the problems with the DVD-ROM drives. That has nothing to do with your motherboard. You have either a Windows issue or a technical issue with the DVD-ROMs
