Flat bed Scanners

I as using a Zerox Flatbed Scanner 2400 and it has stopped lighting up and does not work. Do the tubes sometimes fail and is it possible for me to buy and fit one myself

Where did you buy it from? Scanners are difficult to repairs witout specialist knowledge check if its still under warrenty and if you can take it back.
