Foxconn K7S741GXMG-6L and DDR memory are incompatible ?

    I burned my old motherboard (MSI KM4M-V) because of the Emachines issue with power supply so I bought a new one Foxconn K7S741GXMG-6L (see specs below)

    FOXCONN Channel Service _ Motherboard


    I connected with a new power supply: V-Series ATX 400W (see specs below) , with the old Sempron 2800 processor, the memory Samsung PC3200 U -30331 Z 512 MB DDR PC3200 CL3 memory and after 1 sec the powersupply shuts down. I took out the memory so the powersupply and the CPU fun are running but I can't see anything on the monitor.

    Are these two components (motherboard and DDR memory) really incopatible ?!?

    Well, that Foxconn motherboard has to support DDR because that's the only memory that the board supports. It doesn't sound like a memory issue.

    What it sounds like more is a CPU overheating issue. Make sure to clean off the CPU core with high-purity isoporpyl alcohol (90%+) as well as the heatsink base and then apply a thin layer of thermal paste to the core. Then reattach the heatsink.

    thanks for answer. I am not sure that processor is the cause because as I said if I'll keep the memory on the MB, the power supply and the CPU cooler will turn off; if I'll remove the memory these 2 are working but I can't see anything on the monitor.... do I need to have the memory installed in order to see something on the monitor ? I will look for another memory anyway

    Where can I find thermal paste ?

    Yes, you must have some RAM installed to be able to successfully boot a motherboard. While it's true, the CPU may not be the issue, the power supply is receiving a signal from the motherboard to shut down. This typically indicates that the processor is overheating. You can swap RAM sticks all day, but it won't do anything if the CPU cooling isn't working.
