I recently uninstalled adobe and installed Foxit Reader. However- PDFs aren't opening in it. How do I make pdf links I click automatically install?
 
Right click the file>open with>find foxit and make sure you tick the always use this program box. That should associate the file type with Foxit.

If you want to save the pdf, rather then opening it in your web browser, just right click the link and select 'save target as...'
 
Did u restart your computer after u installed it or started using it right away? When I installed it, it didn't tell me that I needed to restart my comp for it to work but I noticed that none of my pdf files on my desktop or in my folders had gotten an icon yet. U know how if u have adobe acrobat, they'll all have that red & grey icon. I tried opening and closing the program itself, rather than a pdf file (cuz it says in readme that it will make it the default pdf reader for ur system if u run it once), but that still didn't do it. Only after I restarted my comp all those pdf files suddenly appeared with the Foxit icons. Now all the pdf links online work as they should (meaning that if my browser is set to open them right away they'll open in foxit, or if I have it set so it asks me what I want to do first -- open or save to disk -- Foxit pops up as the default choice in the drop-down menu thingy).

thats the method I used and it worked fine. Glad you guys like foxit reader!

I got it working. What I wanted it to do was just automatically open pdfs online like adobe does, but I heard it doesn't have a browser plug in, and it is fine the way it is.
 
Hey guys ... have u tried that typewriter feature in 1.3? I tried it and it crashes every time I try to print! Everything works fine printing untouched pdf files, and everything works fine when I type something into the pdf file using the typewriter feature (I was all really excited thinking it's really cool that I can do that). But as soon as I try to print it after I typed something into it, it just crashes. Does that happen to u too?

There is one more method........

Right click on the file>properties. In general tab you will see a change button....Press that button and select the program you want to use and aplly that......You will see that all the files relating to that file will start opening with that particular program...........Its just like using open with and checking always use this program box....... cheers~!

I've not had any problems, are you using the latest beta or stable version?
 
I am using version 1.3 build 0104.


EDIT: lol well that explains it then! I just went to their homepage and downloaded it again. This one turns out to be v1.3 build 1413, and it works now. thanks haha, that was easy
