This is sort of a stupid question but does anyone know the name of those sites that are full of people who help each other with those "free iPod" things. I keep wanting to call them "Tonga lines" for some weird reason. I read an article in Wired Magizine that stated what they were called but I can't find the article anymore:( They're sort of "you scratch my back I'll scratch yours" kind of things, you know how you have to get x number of friends to enter or do some online promotion etc. Well you get others to help you and then return the favor basically. Anyone know? Thanx

I could not name you any, but I would stay away from such offers, I know they sound really good but in the end you would have wasted your time with no end result.

There are several sites offering such, I'm not going to name them for obvious reasons.

However they do appear on respectable websites, mainly graphics/portfolio.

It's most likely a pyramid scheme/dodgy affair, but it*could* be legit.

they are all pyramid schemes really, e.g. the freeipod offer

you need to get 3 friends to signup to 2 offers each, which makes 6, now they might make $20 per offer (I assume, though it could be much lower or higher).

Thats enough for them to buy you a iPod, but what about the people/friends who only manage to get 2 people but then probably give up, so they get to keep the profit.

I am aware of a script you can buy to run such a site, can't remember the link, I could start my own site if I wanted.

Thanks for the info guys, I wouldn't bother with that stuff if I didn't know that these communities existed but if you can get people to help you I don't see how it could hurt.
