A story over at the Inquirer says that a French ISP is giving away a free linux (toaster) computer with every contract. I didn't even get a free modem with my DSL service.

    Read the story here

    See the system here

Sure it looks like a toaster or bread maker but it's a sweet deal.

If you're not in France and you want one, don't feel bad. Linux doesn't cost anything, and you can buy or build a low-end PC for next to nothing. Why not just build your own?

Very true. What I like about this system is that its a diskless toaster that acts as modem, router and telephone all in one. It would be nice to see more systems like this one. DSL is selling some awesome little diskless systems on their site but they aren't as cheap as I would want. Great for a second system for the kitchen, bedroom, toilet, whatever. Just hook them up to a cheap file server.
