frying pc power units

    ive just turned on my pc and smoke started to come from the power unit i think so i stupidly took the cover off i could nt see no smoke damage to the power supply so i changed the voltage and i heard a pop coming from the power unit what can the be help!!!!

    Did you have any surge protection devices hooked up or do you use a UPS?

    Truth is to me it sounds like its fried. Smoke and popping noises are never a good sign.

    It is never a good idea to mess with the voltage, You will need another power supply..
    ANYTIME you smell smoke/Electrical smell it is always a good Idea to turn it OFF, Then replace... We don't like fires...
