FUCK!. FUCK FUCK'DY FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!! I WANT TO KILl THE PIGGLY SONS OF BITCHES AT FRY'S! k, the story begins.... a long time ago in a room far far away i got artifacts up the motherfucking ass. Rebooted, no monitor signal, thought it was video card, people here said it was motherboard. I got a new motherboard yesterday... Plugged all that shit in, then click, power on. I screamed. I yelled. Today i snatched up my brother's 2500+ barton, popped it in. what the fuck do ya know. it worked. My 2600+ barton shitted out on me!!!! I just got home from a trip to fry's because it was under a 1 year warranty by amd. They FUCKING SAID IT HAD MOTHERFUCKING SCORTCH MARKs AND THEY COULDNT SEND IT BACK!!!!!!!!!! ...but they arent fucking scortch marks. its glue. you know, scortch marks are black and dessipate. this was grey, had a flat sheen, and you could see the green silicone under it. They took my for an under expierienced kid with a pc, said I mounted it wrong. Tomorrow i'm bringing my mom in that doesn't take shit from no one! I'm gonna break in my vocal chords tomorrrow... wish my luck! :chk:
If they won't do it, check with whoever made the part and just RMA it through them. Not the fastest resolution, but Fry's can't do anything about it.
Fry's should take it back, I mean, it clearly was glue not scorchings... Oh well if not, they gave me info on RMA'ing in my 2600+ anyone ever RMA'ed through amd, and if so how long did it take?
I went back today, they stopped selling the barton core's, so they traded me a 2400+ sempron retail straight across. works! cant say i wanted a sempron but what the fuck. atleast my comp works
Sempron=new Duron. Still, it's not too bad. I believe they're based on the Thoroughbred B core if I remember correctly.
If by new Duron, you mean a budget version of a pricier chip, you're right. But a sempron is basically an Athlon64 with the core scaled back, so as to be a 32-bit only processor. This is fine for Windows users, unless you want to get into beta hell with WinXP-64... :dev4h: For example, the Athlon64 3200+ in 32-bit mode outperforms the AthlonXP 3200+, so this isn't a big problem IMHO. And the Sempron has 256k L2, while the Duron only has 128k.
ninj what was the problem with it anyway? My D Bracket 2 that came with my mobo says theres a problem with the cpu. which i don't believe. But what was wrong with yours?
Depends on if it's the Socket A or Socket 754 Sempr0n. It's not surprising that the chip is coming with 256k L2, as the Athlons now are all coming with at least 512k L2 cache. That, and the Celeron-D (makes it sound like some cold med) has gotten a boost in the L2 cache size as well.
got no signal after BIOS screen it said "CHECKING NVRAM" then, right when that popped up it went to no signal
You're right, I shouldn't have just thrust that out there like that... I've only been working with the socket 754 Semprons, not the T-Bred core ones. The socket 754 ones are nice, but I can't imagine running a T-Bred with even less cache than it already has... :swt:
