whats the diff between 1ghz fsb and integrated fsb on amd cpus? (for example... athlon 64 3000+ retail 1ghz fsb and athlon 64 3000+ oem integrated are priced the same... so something must be better in the integrated, and im wondering what that is )?
Actually they're the same thing in this case, the fsb has a x2 multiplier so 1Ghz x2 = 2000Mhz, which is what all Venice and SanDiego cores should be running at. Intel is a different story as they're fsb's aren't integrated into the chip itself like the Athlon 64's. So an 800Mhz fsb on an Intel is just that.
The memory controller is Integrated on the Athlon 64's. Intel, at least right now, still is using the older, more traditional method, with a separate memory controller and CPU. There's a lot less latency (practially zero when compared to Intel's setup right now) because there's less distance between the CPU and the memory controller, and that does a helluva lot for the A64's speed. Kinda like having a moving truck a few houses down vs. having the same truck right at your front door. Stuff gets move much quicker in that scenario.
yea so amd is better than intel.. i agree but what about within amd.. is integrated better than non-integrated fsb?
Yeah integrated is better but any Athlon 64 has an integrated fsb. Including both the ones you linked up. So you'll be all set
