Galaxy Glacier 6800GT problem

I've put a thread in the Software section yesterday about system crashing to which Big B has given me some advice.

Today I've discovered that the system is running pretty well (i.e. it doesn't usually crash while using internet or stuff within XP) and the PC does not crash inless I load a game (i.e. Battlefield Vietnam).

The game will let you play for a few seconds before crashing and producing the famous blue screen with the 0x0000007f error which when the PC finally restarts generates a window from the Microsoft Crash Analysis which tells me it is all caused by a Graphics driver issue. (this is progress for the original post).

Has anyone else had these problems and can someone advise me how to fix the problem? So far I've gone to the nVidia website and downloaded the 61.77. I have also tried to remove all the previous Ati 9700 drivers including manually from the regedit.

The PC is using a Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe.

Some people think it's better to do a clean install when you go from ati to nvidia or vice-versa, and I'm one of those.

But before doing that, you might wanna try Driver Cleaner which is more powerful than the simple Uninstall method from the Control Panel.

I've gone to the ATI site and downloaded a Cat remover.

I then restarted and loaded Battlefield again and as predicted the crash occured again EXCEPT that the error has changed and is more specific. It says NV4_DISP.DLL is at fault - PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.

A 0x00000050 error occured but the Online Crash Report after reboot gave a vague driver error report insted of the graphic driver one as before.

Should I try to uninstall all nvidia drivers and then re-install them again?

I also had a Video card driver porblem once with my Ati 9500 pro, thou I solved it but it was quite strange.
It turned out that the problem was caused by the installing the latest drivers for Ati. Once I uninstalled it and loaded the drivers I had from the CD provided with the card, everything worked out fine.
I think new or latest drivers can sometimes cause problems. Alteast it did with my system. I was also unsuccessful in stalling the omega drivers too.
So, you could try it, but with Nvidia such a problem is rare to happen,... ATi's drivers come no where near Nvidia.

Go to Find ,... Type in ATi and see what comes up, it means that some patches are left behind.
I think it is better if you don't have any video card drivers installed when installing a new driver.

Did a hardware check and full re-install. Taken all day but the system is working.

Thanks for your help all!
