Hello, I have Toshiba Satellite 2410 Notebook. It has Nvidia Geforce 4 420 Go installed in it. The problem is that Geforce 4 420 Go comes with 32 M memory but my computer shows 16M memory. So is this some kinda driver problem or memory sharing?? Nvidia site doesnt offers updated driver for this card. Is there any other site where I can download the latest driver for it. Currently I am using a driver (written in 2003, pretty old, huh ) I have installed Far Cry At some stage it gives me Critical Exception Error. Is this because of the graphics card?? Some texture color (like the mountains) appear to be distorted. I mean some part of the mountain appears plain red color/blue color. So is this graphics card problem or I will have to add a patch. Notebook Specs: Intel 1.8 Ghz Processor with SSE2 512 MB DDR Ram Nvidia GeForce4 420 Go (shows 16M instead of 32M) please help Thankyou.
From what I can tell the specs only include 16MB for the GF 4 420Go...at least on the Satellite 2410 unit. I'm surprised the game would attempt to run at all with FarCry, and you may be running into issues simply because the GF4 420 is more or less a GeForce 2 MX with a faster clock speed and meant for DirectX 7. That's pretty old, given DX7 is about 6 years old. I wouldn't expect to be able to run newer games like FarCry on that laptop due to the video card in there. You could try updating the GeForce Go drivers (make sure you get ones for the GF Go), but I really don't think that card has enough grunt to really run something like that. You might get away with Half-Life 2, but that's the exception.
