i looked on a benchmark on toms hardware, it showed a GeForce 4 ti getting a score of 12201 on 3dmark 2001 se, now is this right?, as i only get just over 10000 on 3d mark 01 se with the radeon 9600 np 256mb.
The GF4 TI was a great card for its era, and is still a pretty good brute-force performer. Since 3D Mark 2001 SE doesn't use today's advanced shaders, the GF4 TI can easily outperform the much newer ATI 9600, which is pretty weak in the brute force department. If you don't believe me, play a game with volumetric smoke. That's been one of my gripes with ATI for years (that and their awful *nix support). On the other hand, if you were to compare the score of that card VS the 9600 in a shader-intensive benchmark such as 3D Mark 03/05, the 9600 will trump it soundly. -AT
ah, any game with smoke lags, oh i am not botherd about 9600 not being as good, as i am getting x800xt now, its just i thought my system may have being holding it back.
