I was using my computer when i heard a strange buzzing sound. I suspect it was the chipset fan because i had read constantly (in reviews and on the asus board) that on the older builds of the Asus A8N-E the chipset fan would start to go out and make loud buzzing sounds after the first 10-14 days. Now i built this computer 12 days ago and i heard the chipset fan buzz for abut 10 sec, then another 30 sec later it did it again, and I havent heard one since (about 10 min ago)(fan is running at normal speed about 5800-6000 rpm). If you guys thnk it might be something else please tell me im getting kinda nervous. And the rest of my specs are over on the side.

    My MoBo is version/revision 2.XX

Also how can you check GPU temps, i know its of topic but im still pretty new to custom comps and ive wanted to check them out of curiosity, this was my first build.

Most likely that noise is the fan though it may be just a wire or a cable that is touching the blades. Make sure that there are no IDE or power cables hanging near the fan, if you still get the noise then most likely the fan needs replacing unless you can track down the exact source of the buzzing.

Hi m8 u usually get some temperature monitoring sofware with the mobo on the drivers and utilities disk. however these are known to be 20% unaccurate but it does giv you a rough guide. On some motherboards there is a section in the bios (press delete when booting) then shows you the temperature of the cpu and system etc. As stated in the post above see if there are any wires around the fan and make sure that it defiantly that fan making the noise as it cud be your cpu cooler or graphics card cooling fan. If it is the chipset fan you can buy replacable one, but a bit of oil like WD-40 might do the trick. Hope this helps Dave

dave- Well first WD-40 is water dispersant not oil, and second you shouldnt put it on electrical components like fans!
If you have everything mentioned here and the noise still persists i would suggest unplugging the northbridge fan temporarily and see if the noise stopped and if it has replace the fan!

I just called Asus tech support and they told me to call the RMA hotline and they will send me a new fan as long as i have all the serial #s and what not, so hopefully that will solve my problem.
