    Simple question that is probably a hard one to answer. Whats the best "bang for buck" gfx card for gaming.

    i would guess that itd be the 6600gt but then how much difference does manufacturer make?

    I don't think the 6600GT is the best bang for buck anymore, it used to be the case but X800 series cards are incredibly cheap nowadays, and with prices on 7XXX series cards dropping there's more to choose from.

    Yep, with the industry changing as rapidly as it does, the 7600GTs are probably the best mid range card available.

    but cheap does not mean quality. How do the X800's perform? how do they handle oblivion and such

    Well you were using the phrase 'Bang For Buck', when considering the best 'Bang For Buck' there's two things to consider: price and performance, so price plays a big part.

    The X800 Series will be able to handle most games on high settings, Oblivion might be another story though, to play that game on high you're looking at an impressive rig and a kick ass GPU.

    so wut wud these specs be. aroud this?

    GECUBE RADEON X1600XT, Dual DVI, 256MB GDDR3, AVIVO Edition

    Cuz this retails for R 1,469 here and i cant spend more than that. and is the radeon xt better than the pro
