Graphics Card Advice

Hi folks.

I recently upgraded my monitors from 2 x samsung 19" syncmasters to 2 x LG 24MP55. One uses hdmi the other vga on a GeForce 210 1GB at 520mhz.

My issue is that from time to time (once or twice a day) my monitors will loose the picture for a few seconds then when they come back on, either the windows that are open will seem to resize (sort of how things do when the resolution is changed) OR one monitor will totally disappear and I will have to reset the "connect to external display" settings to kick the second display back in to life.

Would anyone think that is a monitor issue or an issue with the graphics card?.

Monitors are running at 1920 x 1080.

On video card side, low end graphics card may well have problems like those with two monitors. And GeForce 210 is low end. Then again it may also be driver issue (try newest) or problem somewhere else like PSU.

On monitor side, check cable connections and also that input comes from HDMI/VGA and is not auto select etc.
 
Thanks for the advice.

I think the PSU is powerful enough but I can't be 100% certain. Cables are nice and secure on both ends.

Drivers have also been checked and updated.

Could you recommend a graphics card?

Budget is circa £60-£90 and is needed for Office based PC for work. Standard office tasks plus some Photoshop/InDesign work and video editing for education based resources, nothing too high-end.

Just thought that because you have two similar monitors, swap HDMI and VGA cables so that monitor that now uses HDMI get VGA and other way around. That way it's easy to see if problem is within monitors.

Any graphic card should go for office work, if not broken of course. I also recommend card that has dual HDMI so cards analog components won't cause problems.
 
Ok mate will try swapping them round.

Is it correct that dvi and hdmi are the same signal? I was thinking about trying a dvi out of the geforce with a hdmi converter on the other end. Can the geforce 210 use hdmi and dvi at the same tie do you know?

HDMI and DVI uses same video signal, generally at least. So DVI-HDMI adapter, why not. GeForce 210 supports two monitors and I think you can use HDMI and DVI same time.
