    Hi,

I have been learning Maya for the past few months and have come across times when it slows down when I have lots of polygons or a high res subdivision model on the screen. I upgraded my video card to the 8800gtx both for gaming and hoping to see an improvement with Maya, but it still happens. I was wondering if there are some cards that are more geared towards 3d modeling applications than what I have now. I had assumed that my new card would be able to do the modeling with no problems but I'm wondering if there is something else that would work better. I previously had two xt1600 cards in crossfire mode that did the same thing.

    Thank you!

Yes there are cards which are specifically made for rendering, they are the nVidia Quaddro FX range and the ATI FireGL range.
