Graphics card problem.

I have a ATI Radeon 9800 PRO graphics card and it performs great but, the display in games are glitchy. There are dots and lines going every where on the screen. (Pic Link: Putfile)

By the way, I have updated the drivers for the graphics card, reinstalled the latest Direct X, and turned off Anisotropic Filtering. Still didnt fix it.

Any suggestions?
 
does ATI have like a program that tells you the temperature of the GPU? if you do find it, post the temps (here) while gaming and while not doing anything. basically anything between 60-80 degrees while in load should be fine and 30-60 while idle should be fine also.
 
Looking at the ati catalyst control center, the temperature is incorrect (look in the ati overdrve section) as it reports mine is 20 dergrees C. Try downloading SpeedFan.
 
try using a different agp card and see if the problem persists..also try to install ur graphics card in another computer system and see if u still have the same problem on the other pc..does it only occur when ur playing games..is the screen normal when ur not playing games?
 
The screen and everything looks fine when I am not gaming. The lines and dots only appear in 3d applications. I dont have a program that tells me the temperature of the graphics card itself but, I could just go to the BIOS and then check the temperature there. The only problem with that is it only shows the temp of the cpu. I will post some temps in my next post.
 
I've also had another problem with the display. I have set my screen resolution to 1152 by 864 and after a few days, it randomly changes itself back to 1024 by 768. When I check the display properties, it still says that it is set at 1152 by 864 even though every thing on the screen is alot bigger. (like it is set at 1024 by 768). Is this also linked to some kind of over heating?
 
can you monitor handle that high a resolution? how big is your monitor? If possible, can you remove your graphics card and clean out dus that have been accumulated in the fan and heatsink with a stiff brush and/or compressed air. then run your system with the side panel open and if possible, a house fan beside it. This way, we can determine if it's really overheating causing the problem. Thanks.
 
I think I found an answer to this problem. When I took the graphics card out of the case and looked at the male plug on the card itself, I saw that one of the prongs was burnt black. It was burnt so bad that part of the plastic from the plug was melted. Could this be the reason for all the problems that I have been having?
 
roy92, I cleaned the molex plug on the graphics card and guess what? That fixed the problem! Thanks for the help. But, the molex plug was damaged pretty bad on that side from the burn so the display still has those dots. The good thing is that you can barely see them now.
