green screen with video file playback

i posted a question a few days ago about this prob and had a few responses back. one option was to try the "all in one codec pack", another was to try coding for xvid and lastly to try "ace mega codec pack".

i tried all the three of these options, the first two didn't work at all.
the ace mega codec pack seemed to be working until just now, i'm using the media player classic that is in the pack. i just tried to watch a .avi file and that green screen came up again.

i have no idea what to do, i need help, i can't continue this way.
any help will be greatly appreciated.
 
Hmm...you might try the [google]VLC Media Player[/google].

There's also the possibility that the file you're trying to play is screwed up somehow.
