Hello, I am not really much into gaming but I am the type who picks up a popular title and plays it, and then stops gaming altogether for half a year or so, until something else turns up (mainly because I'm into programming and gaming takes away precious computer time.) I am looking for an ATI Radeon card that can run GTA4 without compromising much on graphic quality. This would also imply that it could play equivalent games (when it comes to graphics). I have a desktop lying around at home which has been pretty much unused for the last ten months. Currently it's configured like so: 4Gigs RAM 1Gig nVidia 9400GT (Which ruined my life! jk it's a shit card) Core2Quad So its a pretty neat rig except for the video card which I plan on replacing. EDIT: Sorry I should have posted about my PSU. I think I could manage a PSU upgrade if it's needed. Thanks so much for your time!
That card isn't shit at all. You can probably even run Crysis with mid-high graphics with no lag. Try it out first.
It ran GTA 4 at worst settings like poop. So I read up on the internet and from what I heard it is a multimedia card that isn't expected to run too many games. I knew very little about video cards when I bought it back then. It read 1Gb so I thought it would be better than the others. Truth is on my 1440x900 I'll never really need 1gb. A well powered 512mb will do great.
It wasn't a great when it was released, but it definitely surpassed the recommended card specs listed for GTA4... But who ever trusted that lol... What are the temps while running the game? (idle and high) Whats your budget like for the upgrade? There are deals on the 8670's atm...
