    Evening all

I can't make heads or tails of Guarddog firewall! I've followed the instruction manual but when I turn on Guarddog it blocks access to my NFS share (either incoming or outgoing - to my other NFS share).

Also, it won't let me input custom ports. I click on the advanced tab and click the 'New Protocol' button but nothing happens!

    Hey mega

[ot]I know exactly how you feel which is why I only bothered with it once.
After that I only use Firestarter. For me it is enough but maybe for you it is not functional enough (?)[/ot]

You need to allow RPC. That said, why not just allow all traffic to/from each of your PCs?

Also, are you behind a NAT router? Why would you need IPTables up & running?

RPC - That was the missing ingredient :)

I am behind a NAT router, but the router does not have a built in Firewall. There is a chance that my computer could face attacks from other tenants in my house! That and the fact I am paranoid - been using Windows for too long :D

Either i've gone blind or GuardDog does not have an entry for RPC. I'll have to enter it in manually - what port number does RPC operate in?
