E3 came and went and provided us with a plethera of eye candy.
But the question still remains, in terms of graphics, platform, story line, audio, game play and general fan-boy hommage; Which game will come out on top this year.
We've already had Deus Ex 2 (DE2) come and go with only a quiet bang. Rather disapointing on all accounts. But at lease it's come out and has been made into a finished (playable) product.
Half Life 2 (HL2) had a whole host of videos at E3 (inc the CounterStrikeSource vid which looked very sexy indeed) and dose look to be a technically stunning game for the 5% of us with graphics cards that can render half a billion pollygons per mili second and still have processing power left over to acctualy think about a story line? It certainly looks sweet but with the (already) 1 year delay and potental further cock-ups to come, will it ever see the dim glow of our home monitors (TFT or otherwise)? And when it dose will Valve have overlooked the story line when perfectign the combine and stryder models?
I myself only bought an X-Box to play Halo on, havent bought any games since, I dont like that a company can buy its way into another market like microsoft did (they built a pc and slaped an AV-Out on it). Anyway, they did get it right in buying bungie (and they werent please due to their previous mac relations - see marathon). But bungie were developing halo, and they changed course to making it THE xb launch title, and it was all we expected and a can of MC-ownership. And the love that halo received has generated enough hype for Halo2 (H2) that you could run a small city off it. We've seen the play-through, the video of the MC jumping into space, the snap shots and the videos of Zanzibar. It faces the same 3-way crossing that HL2 dose, will they go too far with grfx and forget to inclue a good story line (1), work too hard on the story line and end up spoiling it all (2), or get the perfect balance Bungie are famed for?(3).
Doom 3 looks to be a bit of a dark horse so to speak with little (or no) new info in the past month.
What do you think? Which will you buy?
Plege your alegance now and collect your weapon at the door.
