Hey Procal, how's it hangin man? Haven't heard from you in a while. Yeah your new rig is awesome. I've loving the dual-core proc and Geil One series ram. Good stuff. Though why would you buy two X800GT's for an SLI board?
SWEET! You've got some of that lovely Geil 1-Series RAM, apparently that can do DDR500 with timings of 2-2-2-5, that stuff is pretty amazing! Nice system there, and yeah as Ex said...why 2 X800GT's on an SLI board? Are you just using them separately and using 1 monitor on each or something?
Basically i made a tits up, the reason i designed the system was as media center, but mainly for video editing, storage and cad design. hence having the two X800GTs is great when using heavy cad software. I decided very quickly one day out of the blue that i needed a new computer, something fast for cad / gaming / video editing, so i just went online and ordered what i saw then and there really.. hence i made the mistake of buying ATI cards instead of Nvidia, although its fine, i may have well have brought 2 x 6800GTs and be using them both as a single card in SLI for the autocad.. and have the advantage on the gaming side of things.. As of monday im having the two x800's picked up and replaced for 2x Asus Extreme 6800Gt's 256mb. *mental note: when have lots of money, value of money = out of window, = stupid decision to try to run 2 x ati card in nvidia sli technology.
Excelent advice! When I have lots of money I will have an idea what to get.... Thanks for this! :good: :good:
Yeah we all make mistakes, I did when I ordered an Arctic Cooling VGA Cooler for my AGP 6600GT, didn't think to read the specs and then found out that it's only for the PCI-e 6600GT's as the AGP one's have that AGP-PCI-e bridge and therefore Arctic Cooling haven't made a cooler for it. Hope the new system works well for ya ProcalX!
