This has been happening for a while, but the hard drive on one of my computers is constantly seeking, obviously I hear it crunching away and see the red light on the case solid on. Checked running processes, nothings really taking up CPU, I have indexing turned off, not sure what else it could be.

Have you scanned your computer for virusses and spyware? Also perform a disk defragmentation. All these are causes for a constant seeking hard drive.

Oh yea i've done all the basic stuff. I'm a server engineer so I know all about that. Just never seen this issue before.

You might want to try error checking the hard drive for bad sectors and such.

Tried a spinrite, spinrite doesn't see the drive... which is weird.
