hard drive r.i.p

    hi guys
    i have been given a 60gig maxtor 4do6oh3 i have tried adding it as a second drive when i booted up it came up this product needs to be registered (i presumed xp was already on the disk ) it allows me to delete the partition but will not reformat it is it dead and destined for resyke or is thier still life in it

    If it was a secondary drive and your primary drive has your windows installation then there should be no problem. You've not explained the problem and messages very well.

    Explain exactly what you did please :).

    on double checking the maxtor is coming up as drive c i presume it is setup as master and my other drive is d which i am currently booting from and using now as i type so i will have to change the jumpers as i must have got the drives mixed up ill have to sort them out tomorrow and see if that sorts the problem out
