Hello all, my first post here and it is a question to you all that is puzzling me.

I currently have two hard drives within my computer that so far have caused me no hassle, but now I have an error message within Windows Event Viewer that is causing me concern.

Now the problem comes from once in a while when my system locks up. When this occurs I continue to get any audio playing at the time and thats it, visual stays frozen if for once in a while the cursor moving around 5-10 seconds after I have moved it. The primary monitor then shuts off as if the computer is no longer turned one but the secondary monitor I have hooked up continues to be active.

My two hard drives are as follows
Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 SATA and Western Digital Caviar 80GB.

The error message from Event Viewer is as follows:

    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: Disk
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 51
    Date: 03/09/2006
    Time: 23:41:33
    User: N/A
    Computer: EEFI
    Description:
An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.

This line shows that their is a problem with your Primary/Master HDD.

First of all, make sure that there is no virus problem in your computer. If you dont have any antivirus then there are some free one's available out there like AVAST Home edition....

You can also use chkdsk command in run..... go to Run and type...
    chkdsk c: /f
    chkdsk (drive letter) /f

I'm currently running Grisoft's AVG Free Edition on my system and I havent detected any viral infects. As for the command you asked me to run it ran fine and then reset after completing. I didnt see anything flagged as damaged etc.

One thing I did see was "Usn Journal" what on earth is that?
