harddrive troubles??

Hey, i just re-formated my computer, hoping to install a clean instillation of Windows xp pro, and right after the first part of the instillation, where it reboots, it says "missing operating system"although i just got finished installing it.I have tryed reformating it and reinstalling it many times with diffrent file systems (NTFS,FAT 32) but it still does the same thing. please help, Thanks.

dvd-rom
dvd-rw dl
floppy drive
 
Go into your BIOS and see what the disk access mode is (eg, large).
I had a similar problem when i first bought my computer, it was formatiing in Large mode and wasnt recognised! (change from celeron to AMD)
 
i had the same problem, try removing the hard drive then reinstalling it since a connection might simply be wrong, the connector might be slipping out
 
I agree. The manual should have detailed instructions, but if you don't have that, the various jumper settings will be on the sticker on the hard drive, albeit without as much detail.
