Today i've sorted out a wireless network in my house using a netgear w834g router which connects to my pc using a wg111 adapter , since its been connected i've noticed that alot of the other people in the game , (call of duty) seem to ghost to places jumping and my fireing speed is delayed , before i was using a direct contact to a bt 105 modem and had no problems at all , anybody tell me if this right will i have a slower gaming speed because its wireless rather than physically connected ?? any advice would be appreciated regards Tony
Likely it is not your speed that is suffering, but your latency. Wireless is known to have higher latency than traditional hardwired networks. On the other hand, if your wireless router is not properly configured for security, you could have unwelcome guests on your connection. In that case, speed would also be an issue (or, more accurately, network congestion). :swt:
from what I've noticed a simple wireless network increase's ping in counterstrike (not a very network demanding game) by 15 to upwards of 20.
