Having a new comp. built.

I have a quote for building a new comp. from a local computer guy. I was hoping you guys would take a look at what he is offering and let me know what you think. I do a lot of online gaming and I am told this rig will do very well.Here is a list of what he proposes.

You can run most of the games but not all..... Also if you are planning to upgrade to Vista then your whole RAM will be only utilised by the OS.....

Thanks for the input, do you think the overall build looks ok? I do not mind spending a little bit more money to get me a comp. that runs all games well. If you have any specific suggestions to make this build better I would appreciate it.
 
Where are you located? What currency is the price in as a 7300GS is a low-end card and won't hold up well in games, something like a 7600GT should be a minimum if you want any sort of reasonable performance in games.

Maybe looking at a Core 2 Duo rig would be an option too, or post your maximum budget here and seeing what people can find.

About Inter Core 2 Duo....It is the latest and the fastest processor amongst all for gaming purposes which you will find in that thread i have linked..

Yeah the rig Big B listed in there (the basics excl monitor etc) will absolutely whoop the one you were planning on getting.

I'd go down the Core 2 Duo route, and maybe look at a similar rig to the one Big B suggested for that other member.
 
O.K. I have now lost confidense in what I was going to buy. With an 1,800 U.S. dollar budget what are your suggestions for a complete build geared towards gaming? If i can get a list of all of the components I want I can present it to the guy who is going to build my comp. and see what it is going to cost me. The 1,800 dollars will be parts only.
 
Well the system you were being told was good isn't bad, but for gaming it won't hold up well as the graphics card is very weak.

If you'd want a list of parts something along the lines of what was listed in that other post (in the other thread) then that will do you fine.

Something like:

Core 2 Duo E6300 / E6400
2GB PC-6400 RAM
P965 - based Motherboard (Like the MSI one listed in the other thread)
7900GS / GT (of something like a 7950GT or an X1950 series card)
Then the other stuff is easier, just take it from that other thread.

I have not had any additional input in the last couple of days, so I assume that everyone who has viewed this configuration agrees that no further tweeks are neccessary. I will be making my order this week so if anyone has anything to add before I invest almost 2000 dollars in this please let me know.
