What HDD best to concider? Hitachi, Samsung, Western Digital or else? I'm looking for a silent HDD and safe in one. Which is the one, who carries both? Which is the most silent and which is the most safe? That's the very important part of my new PC's built. Thanks.
Well, in MY OPINION, from what i've heard from some users, SEAGATE and WESTERN DIGITAL are pretty solid and silent hard drives and are pretty cheap. I would go for SATA since IDE'S take a litle longer for your hard drive to look for data (seek time, write time), but an IDE wouldnt be a burden. Check this out: Build a Silent PC - Silent Hard Drives
Thanks for your opinion. The information about builtsilentpc.com is great for me, thanks. Never know, which site you'll encounter next, LOL. Thanks man.
Seagate are generally considered to be the best and Maxtor are being made by Seagate, so, either a Seagate or a Maxtor[ot]i can't believ i'm actually recommending Maxtor[/ot]however, a few people on HWF recommend Western Digital but personally i will only use Seagate drives
Thanks, understood... but what about Hitachi on 1GB? Edite: Also heard, that Samsung has very good HDDs.
I recently bought a hitachi (120gb usb) and am experiencing a major problem after installing it. I have posted in this section under "ext hdd problem"
I hate Hitachi ewww :x: I have used Samsung and Western Digital in the past and they have been brilliant also Seagate is considered the market leader.
