Just had to install new MB (Asus A8V) as old board has died.

Although PC is working fine the led for HDD remains lit all of the time. I does flicker when there is activity. Tried switching the lead around - but then I get no led at all.

    Any suggestions please?

Hmmm, i'm not sure what could be causing this.
What you may try is checking your IDE and/or SATA connectors are secured properly. Changing your case HDD LED or even updating your optical drives firmware.

It's probably because you put the HDDLED backwards on the motherboard lead.
    Ex:
    What it's supposed to be:
    [+][-]
    You might have done this:
    [-][+]

Also, there could be a problem with your IDE cable, or SATA, whatever you use. Try getting different cables and see if that solves it. And I highly doubt it's a problem with the case LED itself, so I wouldn't bother replacing that, same with optical drive firmware, I personally don't see how updating it can help.

    Hope this helps~

I've worked on a lot of PC's to date, and I've not once had a problem with a case LED. But I suppose its possible, just unprobable.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I changed the IDE cable but still the same. Then I disconnected the DVD Rom drive and success, the problem is resoved
