Hi, my dad just got a 37" Samsung HDTV, and on normal sky, the picture is all crappy, its better when watching movies from DVD but on sky its like all dotty, looks like a bad quality J-peg sometimes, is this normal as its not actually HD channels yet and just normal TV?
I recently urchased a Samsung 32" and at first thought the same. 1. Fact - LCD cannot replace normal CRT or plasma quality. 2. LCD screens rely heavily on hardware. You are better to invest in some good cabeling (gold if you can). Where possible, use the HDMI connectivity. 3. If at all possible try and place the screen as far from you as possible. I know it sounds duft but it's true. 4. LCD screens need a lot of tweaking to get a good result. It took us about a week to get ours, sort-of-alright. Good luck!
I dunno about tweaking it, from what i have seen Freeview has a superior picture Quality to Sky as the picture is fine with movies and Freeview, but the thing is, stuff looks ok on my 19" widescreen monitor, sure its not as big, but i am guessing its got a superior picture quality to the 37" HDTV because the resolution is higher. I think were going to be getting Sky HD soon, do those boxes support HDMI because at the moment were using scarts and they seem to suck preety bad anyway.
