Heelp anyone!!!

Hi:
For some reason I cannot change my screen resolution. It's stuck at 640x480. The odd thing is that the video driver is installed and everything was working fine yesterday. It lets me change the colors to 256, 16bit, and 32bit. But my resolution stays the same, it's not letting me move the resolution slider to the right. It was at 1024 yesterday, now it's only 640. Never seen something like that :eek: .
Any help will be greatly appreciated ;)

Specs are:

Compaq presario 5000
750 Mhz
64 Ram
Nvidia Vanta LT
30 Gig Hard Drive
Win Millenium
 
i'm sure some one more experienced will correct me, however i had this once before randomly on an older machine.

if you are using a monitor driver specific to the brand (ie: not Plug & Play)
uninstall that driver.
uninstall your graphics driver.
reboot your machine
your machine will then recognise your monitor and graphics card.

reinstall & make sure you have the latest direct x (9.0b) this helped for me.

Also make sure that your chipset drivers were installed BEFORE your graphics drivers. If you did not, uninstall everything and do it that way.

Normally, you shouldn't have to install monitor drivers. Plug and play drivers for your monitor should be plenty enough.
 
Hey guys, thanks for your suggestion. I solved the problem, but I had to reinstall the whole OS :eek: .
