Hello, I am quite a big gamer, but I'm on quite a tight budget. My main question is this: I have a fairly old motherboard, a QDI Kudoz 7. Any ideas whether this http://www.dabs.com/uk/channels/components/processors/productView.htm?quicklinx=2CYP processor would work on it? My motherboard manual says only this: -Supports 200MHz/266MHz FSB -Supports AMD Socket-A Athlon "B" type(FSB is 200MHz)/"C" type(FSB is 266MHz) processors at 700MHz/750MHz/850MHz/900MHz/950MHz/1GHz/1.1GHz/1.2GHz/1.33GHz/1.4GHz and future processors -Supports AMD Socket-A Duron processors at 600MHz/650MHz/700MHz/750MHz/800MHz/850MHz/900MHz/950MHz and future processors My main worry is about the FSB, whether it would underclock itself to fit my motherboard... Thanks, Matt ~PS Nice forums :good:
I'm not very sure that CPU would be supported by the motherboard, and I'd wager the answer would likely be a resounding 'no'. Even if it does run, you're still working with an underclocked CPU. I don't know what chipset your motherboard has, but my guess is that it's several years old, and probably not designed with that Athlon in mind.
