Hey everyone, glad I found this place, I think it will help me in the long run, and I can def. learn more :p I was hoping you guys could help me out here. I have a long list of things that I'm not totally sure if I can uninstall. Most of them I'm not even sure what they do.

If you know anything about any of them that would be fantastic! Thanks!

    Hi and welcome to HWF.

If you cannot find the answer here, might as well give up... hehe, only jesting...

Where is the screen shot taken from? The 'Add/Remove' screen? Are any of these entries on the start menu?

Perhaps you can narrow down the list to items which you do not know.... then perhaps the replies would be a bit more specific...

    Sony Vaio CR220
    Intel Core 2 Duo t7250 (2ghz)
    Ram 2gb
178gig hd, only 2gb left lol
    32 bit OS

Does all this information really make a difference in that list?
AVG I have left for the time being until I decide on what Anti-Virus program I like best before I dl them. Anything you guys have tried and like, feel free to let me know :)

Personally I would not touch anything with VIAO next to it.
Only because it obviously came with the laptop when it was new and could be essential for certain functionalities which you take for granted.

You certainly do not need such a variety of media players.
Then, you have two ad-ware monitoring programs. Just decide which you wish to keep - Spybot or Ad-Aware.

The easiest thing for you would be to Google each of the apps you do not recognise, to see what they are there for. Then you can decide what to keep and what not. For example - Do you do much Visual C++ programing? If not, then that one can go, etc, etc, etc.....

This question is a bit puzzling.... are you asking if the information is essential for the forum to help? or are you asking a principle question whether the information in the list is essential to the running of your laptop?

It is simply an inventory of all programs (well, nearly all of them) installed on your laptop and the option to conveniently remove them. It is important as the need for this particular information or action. In other words, if you want to know what you have or if you need to remove certain programs - it is imperative....

This info helps us to determine if your PC/Laptop might be under powered or too small of hard drive and so on... You said your hard drive is 178 gig,And you only have 2gigs left......I can't see where all those gigs went too. That is allot of gigs being used by something ? What OS are you running Vista ?
