Help my speakers have stopped working!

I have had to reinstall XP pro, and since then my speakers have stopped working, I'am not hardware savy, and this is my first post so please go easy on me, any ideas? Where do I need to look to check the drivers are still there??

FYI I have tried external speakers and also integrated speakers in a new monitor, both the same problem
 
You need to reinstall your sound card drivers. If you use onboard sound from your motherboard (from the standard 3 ports at the back) then find your motherboard model with [google]EVEREST home edition[/google]. Then go to the manufacturers site and downlaod the drivers.
If you use a PCI sound card simply reinstall the respective drivers for that card.

Thanks for that, but I read a few posts down and that guy had the same problem as me, he was told to download some drivers from a site, i did it, installed and they now work hurray!!
