help on memory upgrade

how are you doing?

ok...yesterday I decided to upgrade my system...I installed a new cpu (amd 3000+) plus more memory (ram)...at first, the cpu was not properly identified, but I did a bios update and it fixed the dilemma...but now, the total amount of memory (which is 1024M) is not correctly displayed (it shows 1000M)...why?

system:
windows xp pro
biostar m7vit (166mhz bus)
1024 ram (pc2700, 256, 256, 512)
ati 9800 pro
amd 3000+

Boot the system with one stick in at a time and see if it recognizes them properly in each slot. Then try the same thing with two sticks, if that works, pop in all three again and stick them in different slots to see if that works. If not, try a new motherboard and/or in a different motherboard.

I ran aida 32 and it shows each memory slot with its correct corresponding amount of memory (512, 256, 256), but when I go to my computer, properties, it states 1000 Hz ram (instead of 1024 Hz)...

The problem with your system is only a problem of language. 1MB = 1024bytes, not exactly 1000bytes. So when you have 1000MB of RAM, it's actually 1024MB. In other words, everything is exactly as it should be, it's just a little confusing. :)
