I have a Dell 8200 Dimenion pc and the cpu fan went out in it. So I went to Radio Shack and got another one for it but my old fan had a three prong plug on it and the new one only had two wires going to it so the guy down there help me get it hooked up and it works ok but ever time I restart my pc I get a warning something about prev fan falure. So I'm thinking that third wire was to tell the pc that it was working right? I went in and cleared the log but it still keeps warning me at start up any way my question is there any way to stop this from comming up I know the fan is working. Do all pc with winxp have this kind of fan with 3 wires if not there sould be a way of turning this warning off or do you think I should get a fan from Dell like it came with hate to think what they will ask for it :x: . Thanks and great site RickG P.S. Im running XP home ed. with service pack 2

Right for your CPU fan I think you really should get a proper CPU cooler. All PC fans have 3 wires in a little plug which slots into the 3 prongs in your motherboard. Once you get a proper cooler you'll stop having warnings.
