The power supply is very important. Unfortunately, you can't go by wattage as there are three rails (3.3V, 5V, 12V) that have various amperages. Today's CPU's and PCIe video cards (this applies to any graphics in SLI due to this) feed off the 12V. In otherwords, the two most power hungry units are sharing the same power buffet. There's no power supply for $40US, let alone CAN that's going to power that system. Your prospects don't get any better when you get a case with a PSU, especially for what you want. With DX10 cards, the power requirements are going to go up. Given your future prospects, you'll want to invest in a good 550-600W+ unit to start with, most of which are going to be starting in the $80-120US range. The following units are solid ones to start out with. Not all PSU's are equal, so running across a PSU that claims 600W for $50 is a big red flag. Antec TruePower TPII-550 (550W) Enermax EG565P-VE (535W) OCZ PowerStream 520 (520W) FSP Epsilon 700GLN (700W) OCZ GameXtreme 600 (600W) OCZ GameXtreme 700 (700W) Seasonic S12 600W Any Silverstone unit 500W or better PC Power & Cooling 500W or better (if you really have deep pockets) Avoid any of the following brands: -PowMax -CoolMax -Q-tec/Q-tech/Q-Technology -Apevia/Aspire -All Ultra units (save for the X-Finity, and even then, given your plans, it might be better just to skip it) For cooling, if you're not going to be overclocking, the retail cooler for the CPU will work fine.
edit: ok here i changed the cpu link OCZ PowerStream 600-Watt ATX Dual 80mm Fan SATA Ready SLI Ready EPS PowerFlex Adjustable Rails Power Supply OCZ600ADJ SLI in Canada at TigerDirect.ca OCZ PowerStream 600-Watt ATX Dual 80mm Fan SATA Ready SLI Ready 128
hey i would recommend going with the bet cpu possible. If your choosing i would get the 4200 plus. Its real cheap rate now to so you might as well
hmm... Here u need to look at definately coz 16ms is not good at all especially for games... Go for atleast 8ms or less!
wow i had actually completely overlook that it was a CRT, my appologies, and yeah thats correct response time doesn't really have much at all to do with CRT's performance or visanility. For CRT's it all depends on the refresh rate, so long as it has a high refresh rate it should be ok
