hi, i just got this Hiper type-r 580w power supply, retailing at around £70,99p in the uk, i got it for £73, and was wondering, if it was worth the money for this power supply? http://www.hipergroup.com/products/hpu-4b580.html ^^above is the link to the official website and my power supply. so what do you think, was it a good upgrade from a jeantech 500w power supply?
Well at first I was very, very skeptical of that PSU as I had never heard of the brand before. Then I realized that the company has only very recently started making power supplies that are 110 V compliant, so that would explain my not knowing about it. Then I got into the reviews and I have to say, it looks like a very, very nice PSU. I might just get one when I get a new PSU (soon).
UV reactive too , fan stays on to cool insides down after computer is turned off, the fan also stays on for about 20 seconds when the power is turned off at the mains :s, i dont understand how it does that. pelvis 3, what do you think of it?
Ive never heard of that manufacturer but it seems like an excellent PSU, its prob got specific capacitors that charge up while its on so it can power the fans when its turned off!
there is one problem, if say i ever want to go for crossfire or sli, i will have to get a new psu, becouse there is only one pci express conector, and you cant get extensions i dont think.
no but im pretty sure you can get adapters, i hope for your sake that you can still use it as its just a waste of money otherwise!
it'll last proberbly 8 years, in this old ocmputer i got given, it was about 9 yr old, and power supply was a crap 100w and it was orgiinal one, and i think mine will be better than that lol.
i was looking at that, dont they throw in some extras as well though, like a case fan, storage box, IDE cables. I swear i saw that they were in there as well.
you get the storage box, but i dont think ide cables and case fan come as standard, i bought it from pc world, a known rip off (they sell x800se for £399), so it will not come as standard, if you buy it they website might throw some extras in.
oh i was looking at my favourite computer parts site www.overclockers.co.uk (you get some good prices and i think you get the extras in with it.
got order confirmation about fan, should be here tomorrow. matt, what do you think about my power supply?
yeah i would have gone with it as i was seriously considering buying one a few weeks ago but couldnt find ratings/amperages on the diferent rails, maybe you could fill me in? i know the tagan one i was looking at (its a Tagan TG480-U01 480W ATX2.0 SLi Compliant Silent PSU) has like 28A on the +12V rail, and i want more amps for more stability (i think my power supply cant cope and thats why i'm getting crashes with things freezing up) and tagan is a trusted brand, which kinda leaned me towards them. anyways i really hope that this power supply/cooler combination stops your crashes, the cooler certainly has Reduced mine but not totally stopped it, now i'm thinking its the power supply and might follow the same route you're on.
i THINK, i am not sure, but i think this one had 30amp, and dual 12v rails, i will just try to find some ratings for it.
http://reviews.pimprig.com/power_supply/image.php?url=rtpsu-specs.jpg thats the label on the bk of it, i found it in less than 2 minutes on google.
cool, my motherboard is old and doesnt need dual 12V rails i dont think, (it might, but i really dont know, i dont understand this dual rails stuff, is it purely an ATX2 thing? if so then i dont need it as i only have ATX 20pin motherboard connector if thats what its all about)
