hi, as you all know i have just purchased an x800xt graphics card, well some of you know, i am getting it hopefully on wendsday, will my hiper type-r power supply be ok with this video card?, or will it start sucking the life out of the power supply?
From the specs listed, there shouldn't be a problem. I don't know how solid Hiper's PSU's are, but if the amps they have are close to the mark, then you're sitting well for a while.
its dual 12v rail, errm 18a and 20a, so that makes 38 a dont it? all i know is that it failed the test on toms hardware, but it dident look right, that one wasent even within specs on toms hardware. http://reviews.pimprig.com/power_supply/image.php?url=rtpsu-specs.jpg there is the power ratings sticker.
I really don't trust THG. Maybe they've changed, but their articles aren't that great, they're heavily Intel-biased, have ungodly and unnecessarily long articles, and in general an average site with more money than they know what to do with. To me, they're questionable in general as they've had reviews that seem to be biased toward a company---on multiple occasions. That's why you do not see me referencing them. I'd also like to point out that the review is 1 single review. I'm not sure if it's made it to Anandtech's labs, but you might see what Hexus has related to similar Hiper PSU's. I'd also read forms at [H]ardOCP, PC Perspective, DFI Street, HotHardware, and Overclockers.com.
on that hexus, i can only find a 480w hiper psu review, and not one on the 580w one which has those reomvable plugs.
i have seen one review on it from pimprig, thats all, i just hope its not going to be a nightmare inserting the power connector (
