Hey guys, well, as the topic says, im looking for some help with the x1650 Pro.
My 6600GT gave out on me, so i had to replace it, and with the nice speeds of the x1650, the 256mb and the GDDR3, i decided to purchase one.
Anyway, roll on to yesterday.
I removed all drivers from my system, (not with DriverCleaner) for the 6600GT, turned it off, slapped in the x1650 and powered back up. Got to the XP loading screen, then, the moniter shut off, or sounded like it did anyway, the light was still on.
So, into safe mode we go, to check things, and everyhting seemed alright, didnt remove anything, and restarted. This time, it finished the XP loading, then told me my "System32" folder was missing and a repair was needed.
So, a repair was done, and it started up fine, logged into XP, installed the ATI drivers (from the disc with the card) and restarted. Got to the XP loading, and told me my "System32" folder was missing again.
So i restarted, and mashed F8, as you do, 'till the options came up, (now, i would have thought it would have told me "System32" folder was missing again here, but it didnt) started up in safe mode, and uninstalled the x1650.
I restarted again, to find everything fine, no "System32" folder error, XP loaded fine, and logged in fine. So, i thought id try the newest drivers for the card, same thing happened after a restart, that smegging folder was missing again.
(If i doesnt give me the "System32" folder error, then it makes the sound of the moniter powering off after finishing loading XP and does very little else)
My system:
WinXP Pro
AMD Athlon 64 +3000
2 x 512MB Corsair something or another
EZCool 550w PSU
(Ask if you need anything else)
Now, im kind of at my wits end here, ive borrowed a spare 6600GT from a friend for the time being, but, help me please.
