    Hello.....

Im looking to get a new LCD tv for my little bedroom, and hook it up to my pc. I have surround sound speakers for the pc, connected up to a standard 5.1 sound card. question i have, is it possible to have the tv sound coming out the speakers on the pc? along with my xbox 360 if possible? I realise that optical out may not be an option, but even using the tv's audio out, bog standard phono cables.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Are you running the tv as a monitor? - or just want some extra sound from the TV audio?
I suspect that PC audio isn't quite up to the broadcast standard - and from a PC you might get extra noise from the the power. In addition yr PC will double yr energy use for relatively little benefit.
For really good sound quality headphones will be hard to beat; maybe some cordless arrangement?
Bear in mind that every room has a cutoff frequency below which you cannopt get the Bass into the room....if it's a small room the extra bass from a Sub may not make much difference, whereas this doesn't apply to headphones as they connect directly with the ear and will give you a better stereo image, as there aren't reflections from close-walls.
It might also help to keep the peace with neighbours and you can listen to TV/DVD well into the night.

The tv will be used as both a monitor for the pc and tv for the xbox, with the occassional viewing of sky when the missus sends me upstairs to watch the football.

The problem being is the tv i am lookin at, has good write ups on the picture, but poor on the sound. Headphones i have, the only problem being theres often going to be a few ppl with me. I have surround system downstairs, but not really willin to fork out another few hundred pound on a system, when, the pc has surround sound, and the room is not really of a size to justify the cost. I may well just see how bad the audio is first, but was really just curios to see how easy it would be to hook it all to the pc speakers, so the xbox and sky would be surround sound through the pc.

    Cheers for the advice :)
