I recently bought a new video card, a VisionTek Radeon XT 2600 AGP. I haven't installed it yet because when I slid the card out of the static-proof bag a little gray and black cylindrical piece fell out of the bag as well. This has the following printed on the top:
51484
100
16V
On the bottom of the piece is a separate black plastic base with two flat wires coming from the cylinder that are strung through and pressed flat in opposing directions. There also appears to be some kind of clear adhesive applied on the black plastic base. After looking at some images of my card online, I have determined where this disconnected piece is supposed to be on the card. My questions are:
Will my card work properly without attaching this piece? (I know it seems silly since the piece is probably important to the card's functionality)
If I need to attach this little piece, what kind of adhesive do I need to use to ensure my card is not damaged? This piece does not appear to be something that was soldered so I assume I will only need to glue it back onto the card properly.
I appreciate any help as I cannot use my pc until I get the card working safely. Thanks in advance.
I ended up finding a picture similar to the detached piece here: http://uk.farnell.com/productimages/farnell/standard/2032909.jpg
