I wonder, how much memory is needed for great gaming expirience? Why everyone choosing 2GB instead of 4GB? Will it be needed 4GB of memory in the future for future games? Thanks.
Pretty soon, 4GB will become more popular, you can already buy 2x2GB 4GB Kits, my estimate is within the next 3 years 4-8GB will be about right for gaming, personal opinion there though. This will however require a 64 Bit operating system, e.g. Windows XP x64 Pro, Vista Editions in x64, Linux x64 etc. etc. as they can address up to 128TB of RAM whereas 32 Bit operating systems such as 2000, XP Home and Pro, Vista 32 Bit (x86) Editions can't even reach 4GB Hope this helps answer your question.
Depends on what the demands are. 4GB kits are still a bit on the high side when it comes to price, and 2GB kits are in the sweet spot, not to mention don't seem to offer a difference to justify dropping that much cash on RAM for most people. I don't doubt it will be a good investment down the road, but right now, not so much. Vista needs more RAM than XP, but even so, I'm not seeing that many people going past 2GB right now.
