How do you know how much power to get for your PC. I plan on using amd athlon 3700+ san diego, radeon x800 XL, ocz tech 1 gb (2 modules) performance series DDR(400)3200. Will a 450w psu be enough.
Yes 450wts will be enough. But is this a generic "came with case" psu? If so then it will still be alright most likely but I can't help but recommend getting a name brand psu, like Antec, Thermaltake, or coolermaster for instance. Make sure it's 12v if nothing else.
If its a generic brand then its going to be crap and will not likely give enough amps to your hardware. Its better in the long run to get a decent brand 450 or over. I know from experience.
Just look on the internet at a picture of the little sticker that has amperages. Compare them to an Antec of the same or slightly lower voltage.
yeah but its also how it can cope under different temperatures etc, can it give 450Watts all the time or will it decrease as the temps go up? if you want to kno how much power you think you'll need try this website http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/Power_Supply_Calculator.php?cmd=INTEL (you'll have to change the spec to amd at the top)
you should be fine, i have alot more stuff and a 500W X-Connect suits me fine, I say its enough, you have around 300W-350W of equipment power draw in there
