How to format SATA hard disk?

those adapters can be dodgy, sometimes they work fine & other times you have problems, my advise is to throw it at someone you don't like & get a PCI SATA card & because XP doesn't support SATA HDDs you will need a driver disk that will come with the SATA card or a much better solution would be to slipstream the SATA drivers into your XP CD, then you wouldn't need to retain the driver disc

BTW: here is a "how to" for slipstreaming

Yup, adapters are dodgy. However, there's a slight nitpick: XP does support SATA drives, as well as the SATA controllers. It only needs a driver for RAID modes if they are used. SATA is just an evolutionary step in the ATA interface not an entirely new reworking.

i also had the same problem.. i have disconnect my sata drive from an lg notebook because i encounter "a disk error occured press alt+ctrl+del to restart"
and i've connected that sata to a pc and also had this recovery cd to boot..
but when i'm at the process of formatting that sata hard drive, an hour or two of loading, it's still at a 0% progress.. pls help me.. thanks a lot!
