How to I know if someone is downloading on net "shared house" query

    Hi I would like to kknow if someone is downloading on the net as I live in a shared house. I do know that theoretically it does go slow, but when it does go slow how can I know for definte.

    See if your router has a bandwidth monitor built in, mine does, i can quickly check what people are doing before i start a big DL

    Yep, that's pretty much it. In a shared bandwidth environment, whatever is controlling the inbound/outbound flow of traffic is the only place you can accurately gauge who is using bandwidth and for what. Most home-grade routers don't do very well at this, but you should be able to get at least a basic picture of how much bandwidth is being used on all but the worst routers.
